Green Catalytic Oxidation of Cyclohexanone to Adipic Acid
نویسندگان
چکیده
Synthesis of adipic acid by catalytic oxidation of cyclohexanone with 30% hydrogen peroxide in the presence of sodium tungstate catalyst can be well performed under reflux temperature. The adipic acid isolated yield reaches to 82.1%, and the purity of the product is also very high. The catalytic oxidation reaction takes place without any organic solvent and phase-transfer agent. The effects over different acidic ligands and the amount of the ligand on the catalytic oxidation were investigated. The catalysts exhibit high activity for the catalytic oxidation reaction of the mixture of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol to adipic acid by 30% hydrogen peroxide under reflux temperature. *Correspondence: Heng Jiang, Department of Materials Science, Fushun Petroleum Institute, Fushun 113001, P.R. A new porous organic-inorganic hybrid tin phosphonate material has been synthesized hydrothermally, which shows a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 723 m(2) g(-1) and it adsorbs 4.8 mmol g(-1) CO(2) at 273 K and 5 bar pressure. The material also shows remarkable catalytic activity in one-pot liquid phase oxidation of cyclohexanone to adipic acid under eco-friendly conditions.
متن کاملSelective Oxidation of Cyclohexane to Cyclohexanone
Cyclohexane oxidation is an important commercial reaction for the preparation of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, which are intermediates in the production of adipic acid and caprolactam respectively. These intermediates are important in the manufacture of nylon-6 and nylon-6,6 polymers (Yuan et al 2006 and Shylesh et al 2007). In addition, cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone are also used as solvent...
متن کاملOxidation of Cyclohexanone and Cyclohexanol to Adipic Acid Using Hydrogen Peroxide and Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Supercritical carbon dioxide and hydrogen peroxide was used in the oxidation for exploring a clean and efficient process to produce adipic acid. Supercritical carbon dioxide would be both a solvent and reactant in combination with aqueous hydrogen peroxide, which made the oxidation be possible through the formation of peroxycarbonic acid as the intermediate oxidizer. The effects of temperature ...

We demonstrate, for the first time, in the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of cyclohexanone with aqueous hydrogen peroxide under conditions aimed at obtaining ε-caprolactone, that a thermally activated radical reaction leads to the concurrent formation of adipic acid, even when a stoichiometric amount of the oxidant is used. In fact, ε-caprolactone is the primary reaction product, but it is more reac...
